Astra, Kadence, Divi, Elementor, Bricks and BeTheme all sell you a stack for building a client’s website. Look at what each one bundles and it is the same list: a builder, some templates, a few widgets, maybe a theme. Not one of them bundles the tools for running the business around that website. The brief, the approvals, the files, the reporting, the invoice.
So agencies buy those separately. A project tool at one subscription, a proofing tool at another, a client portal on a third domain that carries somebody else’s logo. In a 2026 survey of 210 agencies and freelancers by CloudLinux and WebPros, 78% were solo operators or teams of up to ten people. That stack is a real monthly cost against a business that size.
Projects
Darkside Projects is $99 and open for pre-order now. It keeps client work inside the site you already own. A project per client with a brief and a running or finished status. Stages and tasks. Files shared and visible to the client immediately. A sign off flow where the client approves or rejects a file with a note, and a dashboard showing them what is waiting.
Underneath it is a timestamped audit trail of uploads, approvals and status changes, and each client sees only their own projects. That audit trail is the point. Approval disputes are not really disagreements about the work, they are disagreements about who said yes and when, and a timestamp settles them in one line.
It runs on your domain, under your name. Not a shared workspace with another vendor’s branding at the top of every page your client opens.
Darkroom
Darkside Darkroom is $49 a year and does the same thing for photography. Watermarking, galleries, client management and payment, so proofs, selections and delivery happen on your site rather than on a third party gallery service with its own branding on the download page.
Watermarked previews, so proofs go out from your own site
For a studio this closes the last gap in the chain. The shoot goes into Darkroom, the deliverables go into Projects for sign off, the change order goes through Invoices, and the client never leaves your domain.
Payment taken for the download, on your domain and under your name
Why this is the white space
Feature comparisons in this market are fought over element counts and template libraries, because that is what the site building tools compete on. The business layer sitting on top of the site has been left to general purpose SaaS that knows nothing about WordPress and charges per seat forever.
Client billing and client reporting inside the site building stack is the gap none of the six major theme and builder vendors has filled. Projects, Darkroom, Invoices and Rank are the four products that fill it, and all four are covered by the bundle, Projects from release.
